After watching the Netflix movie The Little Prince I have become obsessed with it, so has the wee one. I knew we needed to read the book together. I searched and searched online. All I found were $50, $100, $400 and even $1500 books, whoa! I had no idea that this book is so rare. Well actually the book is no longer being printed, the good version that is. The story is that the Katherine Woods translation is the best (so far it is). I called around to two local book stores and to my surprise the second store I called had a copy of it! It is a very small paperback copy that was printed in 1971. I then asked the man how much? I cringed because I had seen paperback copies printed later than this going for $20 on eBay. He said two fifty. I then said 2 dollars and 50 cents? He said yes. Oh boy! I went straight to the book store after work and now we own our very own copy of The Little Prince. It is beautifully written, nothing like the movie and is being enjoyed by the wee one and me.
day 86 I am thankful for Antoine de Saint Exupery for writing a book that is magical and touches the heart. There are so many quotes from this book that have touched me.
"All grown-ups were once children...but only few of them remember it."
"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."
"It is such a secret place, the land of tears."
"And at night I love to listen to the stars. It is like five hundred million little bells..."
Really I can go on and on but you should find a copy and read it!
